First Impressions

You can deduce a lot from meeting someone for the first time. In how they talk, how they treat different people, how they carry themselves.

You can spot those who are me-centered in how their sentences are filled with "I" and "me" and "mine." In how they steer conversations to their own problems and stories and achievements. In how they talk over other people.

You can spot those who think too highly of themselves. Those who are trying to look cool and confident (only to come off as arrogant). Those who are looking for attention.

And those who are unpretentious. Those who are humble. Those who are truly confident about who they are.

This is the part I enjoy most about meeting people for the first time. I like observing how they behave, make assumptions, and see later whether I got them right.

I feels like practice, for me to be able to make the right judgment when it matters.
